WHAT IS "GLASS SKIN"?
The term “glass skin” is commonly used in the Korean beauty world to refer to a smooth, clear, and intensely hydrated complexion that appears transparent.
SKINCARE ROUTINE
If you’re interested in beauty trends and hacks, you’ve likely heard all about Korean beauty aka K-beauty.
Before starting the Korean facial or using any of these products, conduct a patch-test. If you have sensitive skin, apply the product at the back of your hand and wait for 24 hours. If you don’t see any reactions, you can start the Korean beauty regimen:
1. CLEANSERS
- Oil based cleanser (PM ONLY) - The concept of an oil cleanser is usually very shocking to people, especially with those with oily skin. Double cleansing is to wash off any oil based particles especially if you wear makeup, you effectively remove dirt, oil and residue that can clog pores. Once this step is complete, your skin is ready for your second cleanse.
- Water based cleanser (AM/PM) - Use gentle cleanser (foam or gel type) to clean your face that can be used in the morning and evening. Lather it up with water, apply to your face then rinse off.
2. EXFOLIATORS
Exfoliate up to twice a week to remove dead skin cells and promote cell regeneration. You can choose a physical exfoliant, like a light scrub, or a chemical one.
3. TONERS
Toner softens and hydrates your skin after cleansing. It also preps your skin for your next skincare step by helping to rebalance your skin's pH levels. Use toner in your morning and evening routine, after cleansing.
4. ESSENCES
Don't skip the essence, as it's crucial for keeping your skin hydrated and helps with the absorption of the products to follow. Apply a few drops onto your hands and gently pat onto your skin.
5. SERUMS & AMPOULES
This step targets any issues you may have specific to your skin such as acne, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, etc. Use serum/ampoules in your morning and evening routine.
6. SHEET MASKS
K-beauty fans love this step! Sheet masks are saturated with serum containing essential active agents and are suitable for all skin types. They provide deep hydration and offer specific benefits, such as anti-aging, anti-acne, hydration, and collagen-boosting, depending on your skin needs.
7. CREAMS/MOISTURIZERS
Use moisturizer in your morning and evening routine. This step helps with sealing in all the products you previously applied, keeping your skin hydrated all day and night.
9. SUNCREENS
Sunscreen is a MUST for protection of your skin. This is the last step of defense for your skin and should be used every day. Sun damage is responsible for majority of skin concerns such as sun spots, wrinkles, moles, sunburns, sensitivity and irritation in the skin just to name a few. Protect yourself from the UV rays by applying sunscreen rain or shine.
